Multidisciplinary Synaesthesia Artist & Interdisciplinary Social Robotics Designer
Ella-Jenna Oosterglorenwoud

Multidisciplinary artist of Synesthesia | Visual art & Poetry
Ella-Jenna Oosterglorenwoud (1999), also known as Jiayuan Chen (陳佳媛), is a Netherlands-based visual artist and poetess who stands out for her unique fusion of Eastern traditions and Western classical aesthetics. From her atelier Lichtbeeltenis (Light Image) she develops multidisciplinary artworks in which serene beauty and subtle surrealist elements come together.
After years of exploring different artistic techniques and a master's degree in Creative Writing, Ella-Jenna creates refined compositions in which image, literary imagination and vision are harmoniously interwoven. Her signature style encompasses a wide range of techniques, including oil painting, mixed media painting, calligraphic ink painting, digital art and fine art photography, often infused with her own poetic Synesthesia.
In her work, Ella-Jenna explores the dynamics between light, nature and perception. Her artworks radiate a meditative calm and invite the viewer to contemplate and introspect. She draws inspiration from East Asian philosophy and aesthetics, translated to a contemporary Western context — a dialogue between tradition and novelty.
In addition to her visual art, Ella-Jenna is also active as a poetess. Her poems are synesthetic explorations in which language becomes a tangible experience of impressions, emotions and subtle observations from daily life and nature.
Ella-Jenna manages all aspects of her practice herself, both creatively and organisationally, and regularly exhibits her oeuvre through exhibitions and her online gallery Lichtbeeltenis. Her work is recognised for its refined balance between aesthetic sensitivity and artistic depth.
Ella-Jenna Oosterglorenwoud currently lives and works in Beesel, Limburg, the Netherlands, where she is constantly developing new art projects and deepening her artistic vision.
Interdisciplinary designer | Social Robotics & Existentialism
Ella-Jenna Oosterglorenwoud is also an interdisciplinary innovator with a fascination for social robotics, intelligent interaction design and existentialist philosophy. Exploring and designing meaningful interactions between people and technology is central to her practice, with a special focus on social robots and virtual agents.
From her background in product research and development (R&D), she makes connections between scientific insights, technological innovation and human experiences. Her work is characterised by a subtle balance between theoretical depth and practical application, in which she constantly explores how technology can enrich and deepen our existence.
Ella-Jenna focuses primarily on integrated interaction design, in which aesthetics, functionality and philosophical reflection come together. In her projects, she not only investigates how people and machines can work together efficiently, but also how technology can contribute to existential questions about identity, empathy and human connectedness.
